Friends of Rowan Public Library and the Cheerwine Music Hour present The Lunsfords with the GV Band live in concert at 7 p.m. today at the library headquarters.
Clay Lunsford is known as a guitar virtuoso and founder of the NC Thumb and Finger Style Guitar Players Association.
This show will be a mix of gospel, traditional ole time music, and 50s-60s style bluegrass.
The concert will be held in the Stanback Auditorium, 201 W. Fisher St., enter from Fisher St. near Henderson Law Office.

CONCORD — Bost Grist Mill, 4701 Hwy 200, hosts its 16th annual “A Touch of Yesterday” festival Saturday and Sunday.
This event features wood carving champion Ron Knight, food, ice cream, music, demonstrations of the grist mill, quilting, blacksmithing, gold panning, pumpkin carving, kids’ games, farm animals and more.
There will be door prizes and a pedal tractor giveaway.
Admission is $5; children age 5 and under get in free.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Pottery 101 offers an opportunity for children to experiment and learn new art making skills.
Working with clay promotes problem solving, creative expression, manual dexterity and self-confidence.
Classes are for ages 6-14 and must be paid for a minimum of three days in advance in order to hold a space.
The price is $35 per class. That includes instruction, materials and firing.

KANNAPOLIS — “Ghosts of K-Town,Then and Now.” Who’s haunting the old depot? Kannapolis History Associates presents an evening with Janet Litaker Chance, who will be discussing some of K-Town’s best haunts.

Acclaimed textile and book artist Peg Gignoux will visit from Raleigh for this special two-day workshop.
Students will create a one-of-a-kind sculptural handmade book from start to finish using the Coptic stitch binding method.
The workshop is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Attendees are asked to bring a bag lunch Saturday.
Participants must attend both days. Tuition $200.

Students will create a variety of handmade papers to use in their book Friday.
On Saturday, they will construct the cover, create the sections of their book using the handmade papers, and learn the stitching process.
Liese Sadler will teach a needle felting class from to 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at her studio in Salisbury.
Needle felting is a process using a special “needle” to shape both flat and three-dimensional objects from wool fleece.
This workshop will address both, first making a flat ornament suitable to hang on a tree or in a window and then progressing to sculpture by making earrings.
These can be simple or fancy. All dyed wool, needles and other supplies are included in the $35 fee. Extra wool will also be for sale for future fun.
This class is suitable individuals at least 12 years old.

CONCORD — Auditions for Old Courthouse Theatre’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Oct. 13-14. Registration is from 7 to 8 p.m. Performance dates are Dec. 5-21.
The play calls for two female and two male characters as well as one character that can be played be either a male or female actor. All are varying ages.

The Julia B. Duncan Players of Livingstone College will be doing Donald Elser’s, play, “Balcony Scene” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12.
The performance will take place in Tubman Little Theatre, 701 Monroe St.
The show is directed by Livingstone professor Michael D. Connor.
The public is invited and there is no admission. However, monetary donations and canned goods will be collected for the Rowan Helping Ministries.
Rowan Public Library Foundation will host award-winning author and literary professor Jill McCorkle during the 4th annual Literary Feast.
McCorkle’s work has been highlighted on NPR and appeared on the New York Times notable books list.
Her newest book “Life After Life” “is alive with the daily triumphs and challenges of the residents and staff of Pine Haven Estates, a retirement facility now home to a good many of Fulton, North Carolina’s older citizens.”
The public is invited to dine and enjoy McCorkle’s presentation from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the Salisbury Civic Center.
Tickets are $75 per person or $500 for a table of eight, with proceeds to benefit the Rowan Public Library Foundation.
Attendees may purchase a hardcover copy of “Life After Life “signed by McCorkle, who will be available to personalize copies after the event.
