Blackmer House getting makeover for OctoberTour

A crew is cleaning up and making repairs to the Blackmer House on South Fulton Street in anticipation of its spot on this year’s OctoberTour.
The house, built in 1820-21, is the former home of Salisbury’s most celebrated actors, the late Sidney and Suzanne Blackmer.
Historic Salisbury Foundation bought the property last year to preserve the house, significant portions of which were destroyed by a fire on Dec. 1, 1984.
Post columnist Mark Wineka will be writing more about preservation efforts at the Blackmer House for an upcoming edition of the Post.
