Saving Grace Farm recently held its inaugural Silver Buckle Charity Ball.
The nonprofit provides therapeutic equine assisted activities to people with special needs and disabilities, youth at-risk, seniors, veterans and those who have experienced trauma.
The charity ball was a Western- themed dinner, dance and auction held in the organization’s covered arena.
The event included a demonstration ride, live music by the Chris Marks Band, a live and silent auction, “Outlaw” arrests by an old west “Sheriff” and a guest roping contest. Each aspect of the event was operated by volunteers.
“We had a fantastic time and we will definitely be back next year,” stated Jennifer Selby, a guest at the event. “And it’s for such a great cause.”
Proceeds from the ball will go toward providing scholarship to assist clients who are unable to self-pay for these services as well as aiding in operating expenses of the organization.
Members of the community volunteered prior to the event in the fundraising effort. These “Outlaws” were arrested at the event and thrown in “jail” if they didn’t quite reach their “bailout” goal.
These Outlaws alone raised more than $4,000 to help the charity.
“I cannot thank everyone enough for all of their help and support during this event,” said executive director Janna Griggs. “If it weren’t for the sponsors, donors, outlaws, guests, and volunteers, none of this would have come together as well as it did.
“Thank you to everyone who came, gave, and helped.”
The organization hopes to make the ball an annual event and encourages the community to be on the lookout for their cowboy advertisements in August of next year.
All proceeds from events and sales by Saving Grace Farm support programs for those with differing abilities and needs.
