s emergency responders, politicians and residents around the county reflected on the significance of Sept. 11, 2001, Carson High School students gathered for their own remembrance of that day.
Wednesday was the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people.
The students handed out red, white and blue ribbons, sang songs and gathered for a prayer during the ceremony held prior to the start of classes.
Later in the morning, students accepted a framed 3-foot by 5-foot foot flag from the local chapter of the Woodmen of the World. That flag listed all the names of the victims who lost their lives in the attacks.
