West Rowan High School graduate Frankie Belk graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Okla., on Friday Aug. 2, 2013.
She has started her AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., where she is studying to become an Army Intelligence Analyst.
Belk is the daughter of Ester Marsh, stepdaughter of Kevin Marsh and granddaughter of Leda and the late Harold Belk.
PFC Karen Renee Shoaf of Durham graduated from the United States Marine Corps Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., on Aug. 2, 2013.
Shoaf earned a Sharpshooter Marksmanship Rifle Qualification Badge and a Certificate of Excellence on the Marine Corps Fitness test.
A 2010 graduate of Jordan High School in Durham, she is a Senior Health Fitness Major at East Carolina University and will be stationed as a Marine Reservist at Camp Lejeune.
Shoaf is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Shoaf of Durham and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Shoaf of Salisbury.
