MidLife Crisis will be performing at Cauble Creek Vineyard, 700 Cauble Farm Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
The band is made up of five seasoned musicians that have shared the stage with such greats as Jackie Wilson, Wilson Pickett, Major Lance, The Staple Singers, Wayne Cockeran, Bobby Hatfield, Chuck Jackson and Dave Loggins.
The group chooses 60s, 70s and rhythm & blues selections that are both popular and danceable.
Ever mindful that the people who grew up during those times have fond memories associated with these songs, they call their brand of rock/pop/soul “magnet music.”

Piedmont Players Theatre will hold auditions for the Best Musical Tony Award nominated “Leap of Faith” on Aug. 19 and 20.
“Leap of Faith” is a stage musical based on the 1992 American movie of the same name, which starred Steve Martin.
The “Reverend” Jonas Nightingale, performer and con artist, is travelling with his ministry when his bus breaks down in a small Kansas town.
The part-time reverend and full-time crook pitches a tent and invites the locals to a revival.
The sheriff, a woman named Marla McGowan, is determined to stop Jonas from separating the townspeople from their money, and Jonas’ real challenge arises when he meets the sheriff and her son, whose love forces an ultimate cynic to take a real leap of faith.
Piedmont Players Theatre is the first community theatre to ever produce this inspiring show.
Open auditions for dancers/singers will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 and Tuesday, Aug. 20.

CONCORD — Auditions for “Veronica’s Room,” a chilling mystery thriller exploring the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder, are coming up.
The play is by Ira Levin, who also wrote “Rosemary’s Baby,” “Deathtrap” and “Stepford Wives.”
Auditions will be held at the Old Courthouse Theatre from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Aug. 25 and 26. Registration is from 7 to 8 p.m. Two females and two males are needed.
Performance dates are Oct. 25 to Nov 2. The show will open 40 years to the day on the anniversary of “Veronica’s Room” opening on Broadway.

Arsena Schroeder and the Christian band Minds in Christ will perform Saturday at The Inn, 1012 Mooresville Road.

Arsena’s music is a singer-songwriter mix of pop, soul, and jazz. She has performed locally, nationally, and internationally at venues.
She’s also competed and advanced in a round as an American Idol contestant.
The show at The Inn is free, but a suggested donation of $10 is welcome.
Also performing Saturday at The Inn is Minds In Christ, a group of young adults from Charlotte.
The Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society presents its annual Pops ‘n Jazz Concert & Silent Auction at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Looking Glass Artist Center’s black box theater.

CHARLOTTE —The Charlotte Folk Society kicks off its 2013-2014 Gathering Concert Series with a free performance by Southern singer/songwriter Kate Campbell on Friday at the Great Aunt Stella Center, 926 Elizabeth Ave.
Raised in Sledge Mississippi, Kate captures the nuances of Southern living with affection, humor, and honesty.
“And God Created Music!,” a children’s choir festival, is set for Sept. 13-14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St.
The event is open to children’s choir directors and children in grades 2-5.
Deadline for registration is August 31. Cost for the two-day clinic is $20 for directors and free for children. Clinician is Karol Kinard Kimmell, director of youth and children’s music at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Atlanta.
