K.J. Wilson, a rising sophomore at West Rowan, is a member of Raymond Felton’s 15U AAU team and competed in the Adidas Super 64 Tournament, one of the nation’s top high school basketball tournaments.
The event was held in Las Vegas on July 22-29.
Team Felton has competed all over the country this summer and went 6-1 in Las Vegas.
Wilson. who is 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, had an opportunity to play in front of many college coaches such as UNC’s Roy Williams.

The Staton Field-based Rowan Patriots won 3-2 on Monday against the Mooresville All-Americans to win the All-American Collegiate Baseball League Tournament.
Rowan scored all three runs in the first inning against Catawba’s Ross Whitley, who was brilliant after that.
Michael Eaton, Bryan Lira Ayala drove in runs for Rowan, and Eaton stole home on a double steal. Logan Howard was the winning pitcher.
Jacob Wright (A.L. Brown) and Bradley Robbins (East Rowan), Dylan Walker (South Rowan) and Roby Holmes (East) were members of the Patriots.
• Noah Holmes (East) finished his season in the Alaska Baseball League with a five-game hitting streak. He went 2-for-4 on Friday.
Holmes flew out of Anchorage Monday night and is expected to arrive in Raleigh today at 11:30 a.m.
Five RBIs by Jacob May and a three-run homer by Mike Marjama sparked the Kannapolis Intimidators to a 10-5 win against the Lexington Legends on Monday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. May had a three-run homer and a two-run single.

Eli Julian, Noah Julian, Leah Cressler, Karrigan Foster, Matthew Burroughs, Nate Shaffer, Parker Westbrook and Andrew Burgess will represent the Hurley YMCA Warriors at the AAU Junior Olympics that begin today in Detroit.
Kernersville beat defending champ Wilmington 7-5 on Monday to stay alive in the double-elimination American Legion state tournament being held in Wilson.
Kernersville has won three straight after an opening loss. Wilmington suffered its first loss of the tournament and only its second of the season.
There was controvery in the other game scheduled for Monday, an elimination game between Randolph County and Garner.
Garner had only 11 players in attendance, with one player away at summer school.
American Legion national rules state that teams must have a minimum of 12 in attendance. The Randolph-Garner game was stopped after a half-inning in order to get clarification of that rule.
as of Monday, Randolph had been awarded a 9-0 forfeit, but Garner has appealed. Garner’s position basically is that the national rule shouldn’t affect the state tournament.
State commissioner Roy Waters called the national office for a ruling, and a decision is expected early today.
Garner draws players from three large schools — Garner, Fuquay-Varina and Middle Creek — and had the normal 18-man Legion roster when the summer began, but the roster has dwindled for various reasons.
If Garner’s protest fails, Area III powers Randolph and Kernersville will meet in a 1 p.m. game today, with the winner moving on to play Wilmington for the championship.
In U.S. Amateur sectional qualifying held in Rocky Mount, Troy Beaver (Salisbury, Elon) shot 73-73 — 146 but did not qualify. Three golfers advanced.
Salisbury soccer camp will be instructed by Matt Parrish, who coaches the boys and girls teams at Salisbury.
The camp is for rising seventh graders through rising seniors, both male and female. Camp is running through Aug. 2 from 9 until noon at the SHS practice field adjacent to the school.
Camp costs $65 for all players and includes a camp shirt. Checks (made payable to Matt Parrish) or cash will be accepted.
Players are encouraged to bring water, but they do not need to bring a ball.
Tryouts start Aug. 5.
