East Rowan coach Barry Justus took 19 wrestlers to Appalachian State and the team won the Division II camp championship with a 7-1 record.
An individual tournament was held on the camp’s final day, and South Rowan’s Logan Durham took first at 113 pounds, while Carson’s Alex Lyles won the heavyweight division.
Carson’s Cody Brown was second int he heavyweight class. South’s Tyler Hall was fourth at 138. West’s Zac Ridenhour was fourth at 145.
Gary Miller made the 10th hole-in-one of his career at Corbin Hills with a 7-iron on Monday.
Miller aced the 162-yard No. 13 hole. Jim Freeman and Jack Collins witnessed the feat.
Miller has won six Rowan Amateurs and a Rowan Masters, and he’s been a champion three times in the Labor Day Four-Ball tournament with three different partners.

Low ‘A’ Flight player with a net of 64.26 was John Hooper. Low ‘B’ Flight player with a net of 60.83 was Ross Howard.
Low ‘C’ Flight player with a net of 60.67 was Harry Agner. Low ‘D’ Flight player with a net of 61.58 was Buddy Lowman.
• In the N.C. Junior boys 13U Championship in Asheboro, Salisbury’s Michael Childress won the First Flight.
Childress won 2 and 1 against Durham’s Connor Moore in a quarterfinal. Childress won 4 and 3 against Greenville’s Nicholas Loy in a seminfinal. Childress won 2-up against Charlotte’s Rex Brietz Jr. in the final.
• In weekly Corbin Hills Ladies Golf Association play, Kristi Laton won low gross, Treva Honeycutt was second, and Mary Seaford was third.
Cindy Carmazzi won net, with Carolynn Reis second and Norma Burgess third.
Low putts winners were Joan Havill, Louise Collins and Becky Isenhour.
• In sectional qualifying in Cary for the North Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship, Roy Dixon III (Salisbury, UNC Greensboro) shot 73 on Tuesday and was one of 41 players to advance.
• In the first round of U.S. Amateur sectional qualifying held at Whispering Pineson Tuesday, Alex Nianouris (Salisbury, Davidson) shot 76.
• In a Hurricane Junior Golf College Prep Series event held at The Walker Course at Clemson, Christopher Queen shot 81-76 — 157 and tied for 37th. Queen is a rising sophomore at Salisbury.
Mint Hill came back twice and won the Junior Legion state championship on Tuesday.
Area IV runner-up Mint Hill beat Kernersville 9-3 to force a second championship game, and then prevailed 8-5.
The West and East tied 2-2 in the girls all-star game played in Greensboro on Tuesday.
Greensboro Grimsley’s Rachel Cox, who is headed to N.C. State, was named MVP.
• In the East-West boys soccer game, the East won 2-1 on Tuesday behind the play of MVP goalkeeper Jared Miller.
West Rowan’s Brandon Hansen and Logan Stoodley and East Rowan’s T.J. Jefferson will play for the West team in tonight’s East-West All-Star Game at High Point’s Simeon Stadium.
The all-star game is normally played at Greensboro’s Jamieson Stadium but was moved due to construction.
Stoodley signed with Limestone, while Jefferson signed with Livingstone.
Gametime is 8 p.m., and there will be fireworks at halftime.
The West coach staff includes West Davidson’s Dale Barnes and Mount Pleasant’s Michael Johns.
The Kannapolis Intimidators scored only one run on four hits and were swept in a doubleheader at West Virginia on Tuesday.
Kannapolis (39-61) lost 5-1 and 1-0 in the seven-inning contests.
The Intimidators are off today.
• Corey Seager (NW Cabarrus) is batting .300 with eight homers, nine steals, 15 doubles and 48 RBIs in 65 games in the Class A Midwest League.
The 19-year-old shortstop was ranked as the 16th-best prospect in baseball by ESPN at the all-star break. That’s 30 spots higher than when he entered this season.
“He’s going to be big — at 6-4, 215 pounds, he’s already bigger than every full-time shortstop in MLB history — but that’s going to produce plus power that makes him a potential All-Star,” ESPN’s Keith Law wrote.
• Daniel Wagner (South Rowan) went 2-for-3 and scored two runs on Monday.
Wagner is batting .268 for the Chicago White Sox Double A team in Birmingham.
