KANNAPOLIS — A Kannapolis police officer and his wife are charged with possessing and distributing child pornography, according to federal documents.
Steven and Tracy A. Webb appeared in federal court Tuesday. They are each charged with receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography and making false statements.
The FBI arrested the couple Monday, and they are being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail. At their first appearances Tuesday in federal court, a magistrate judge ordered them held in jail until their detention hearing on Friday, according to other media outlets.
Steven Anthony Webb, 41, has been a Kannapolis police officer since 2008.
According to WBTV, a criminal complaint says that on July 4, an FBI agent was investigating a file sharing network possibly connected to child abuse and pornography.
