Sheriff identifies shooting victims
Investigators have identified the two shooting victims who were found dead on Hildebrand Road late Saturday night as cousins from Cleveland. Officials with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office also say they plan to consult Rowan District Attorney Brandy Cook to determine charges in the case. No one has been charged.
The men were identified as Daniel Carlton Redman, 21, of the 600 block of Cedar Glen Circle, and William Thomas Redman, 20, of the 100 block of School Street.
Investigators believe the incident began in Cleveland. Officials received a call to 1025 Mountain Road, Cleveland around 10:10 p.m. Saturday to investigate a disturbance. The caller told 911 dispatchers there were several men at the residence with guns. The caller also said shots had been fired and an orange and black “Harley Edition” Ford F-350 pickup was seen leaving the residence heading toward Carson Road, a statement said.
A statement was issued shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday and no arrest had been made at that time. Dispatchers received a call from 520 Hildebrand Road, Salisbury, at about 10:25 p.m. The caller told dispatchers there were two gun shot victims at the location in an orange and black pickup. Deputies located two males inside the truck who were already dead. Investigators have confirmed the identity of the two men, but have not provided other details as to how the two wound up at the Salisbury location.
Hildebrand Road was blocked off Saturday night. Hildebrand Road is between Sherrills Ford Road and Statesville Boulevard off N.C. 801 in western Rowan County. It’s not far from West Rowan High School. The pickup truck was said to have been involved in an incident earlier in the night, according to one law enforcement source, who provided no details.
Investigators with the Cleveland Police Department and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office are conducting interviews and talking with people at both the Cleveland location and Salisbury location, a statement said. Officials ask anyone with information about the incident to call Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
