Firefighters have reportedly put out a blaze at a downtown restaurant.

Fire crews evacuated several downtown businesses after responding to Cartucci’s, 105 E. Fisher St., just after 5 p.m. They reportedly found flames coming from an exhaust vent in the rear. They later reported flames in the walls and between floors.

Cartucci’s employees said they heard explosions in the kitchen before the fire started.

Fire crews entered that restaurant and neighboring buildings to investigate the extent of the fire.

East Fisher Street has been closed, as well as Main Street between Innes and Bank streets.
