SALISBURY — A Salisbury woman was sentenced to at least 18 years in prison after a jury convicted her of trafficking hydrocodone pills in 2011.
Melissa Lee Ott, 44, will serve a minimum of 225 months and a maximum of nearly 23 years. She was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine.
Rowan County deputies purchased about 50 hydrocodone pills from Ott during a sting investigation near Peach Orchard Road in July 2011.
Ott told a detective she usually only dealt with about six people and she wanted to make sure the detective was not a cop.
Ott had three different pill bottles in her purse, a press release said Friday.
Ott was previously convicted of felony possession of narcotics and two counts of felony possession of cocaine.
