LENOIR — Salisbury mixed media artist Ingrid Erickson will have a one-woman show of new works in cut paper titled, “Birds and Blooms” at the Caldwell Arts Council Art in Healing Gallery in Lenoir.
Erickson will exhibit 22 mixed media works featuring North Carolina species.
The Art in Healing Gallery is located within Caldwell Memorial Hospital at 321 Mulberry St. SW.
Patrons may enter the hospital gallery from the Mulberry Street entrance between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Chickweed — Celebrating Indestructible Women, a fundraiser event that benefits the Family Crisis Council of Rowan County, will be held from 5 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at the Looking Glass Artists Center’s black box theater, 405 N. Lee St.
The event incorporates live music, dance, art, jewelry, on-site opportunities for vintage photographs and massage.
There will be hot dogs from J-Dawgs, barbecue from Sean Sindle, as well as beer, wine and sodas provided by Looking Glass.
Team Chevrolet will also provide vehicle test drives, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center will provide information about breast cancer.
Rowan Family Crisis Council provides support for victims of sexual assault, rape, incest and domestic violence.
Advance tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Pottery 101, 101 S. Main St.; Southern Spirit Gallery, 103 S. Main St. and Literary Bookpost, 110 S. Main St. Tickets at the door will be available for $15.

The inventive comedy “The Nerd” ran on Broadway for 441 performances starring Mark Hamill and directed by Charles Nelson Reilly.
The Piedmont Player Theatre performances will be at 7:30 p.m. July 25-27 and 31 as well as Aug. 1-3.
There will be a matinee show at 2:30 p.m. July 28.
The box office opens Monday, July 15. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students.

Folkmoot USA, The State International Festival of North Carolina, is a two-week celebration of the world’s cultural heritage through folk music and dance.
Held each summer across the mountains of Western North Carolina, Folkmoot features performances, a parade and workshops by up to 300 performers from about nine countries.
Performers demonstrate cultural heritage through colorful, authentic and original reproduction costumes, lively dance and traditional music.
During its 29-year history, more than 200 folk groups from at least 100 countries have shared their heritage and culture at the Folkmoot Festival.
Groups invited to perform in the 2013 Special 30th Anniversary Festival include: France (stilt-walkers), Martinique, Thailand, Japan, Slovakia, Mexico, Canada (Scottish Highland dance) and Paraguay.
Tickets are now on sale for Folkmoot Festival, which runs July 17 through 28.
