Authorities charged two East Spencer teens with breaking into a Butler Street home Friday night after they falsely told an officer they were authorized to be in the home. The Salisbury Police charged Cottrell Ty Carter, 18, of the 100 block of Miller Avenue, and Davonta Isiah Tucker, also 18, with felony breaking and entering.
When police spoke with the teens, one of them said they were in the house to clear out items after their uncle died. When the officer asked the teen, later identified as Davonta Tucker, he said his mother had given them permission, but she was under a nurse’s care. Police called a number Tucker gave them and spoke with his brother. The brother told police they had an uncle who died, but the uncle’s house was not on Butler Street. The brother arrived at scene and further told police his brother did not have a reason to be at Butler Street. There were items strewn about the yard that belonged inside the home.
Both teens have since been released from the Rowan County jail, each under a $5,000 secured bond.
