SALISBURY — Captain Jim thrilled the crowd Monday at the Rowan Public Library with magic tricks and pirate lore but also delivered an important message to his young audience — you’ll find the greatest treasure in a good book.
Also known as Jim Light of Kernersville, the magician performed as part of the library’s summer reading program, this year dubbed “Dig Into Reading.” The program offers weekly live entertainment at all library branches and encourages children to log each hour of summer reading for prizes and recognition.
Captain Jim will appear at 10:30 a.m. today at the south branch. Wednesday, he will perform at 10:30 a.m. at the east branch and return to the Salisbury branch at 2 p.m.
His final appearance is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cleveland Town Hall.
