The Albemarle American Legion Auxiliary Unit 520 selected Anna Chamberlain, a rising senior at Gray Stone Day School, as a delegate to the 74th session of Tar Heel Girls State 2013.
The event took place last week at Catawba College.
Chamberlain is the daughter of Eddie and Julie Chamberlain of Salisbury.
At Gray Stone, she recently was elected secretary of the student body and secretary of the Octagon Club. She also has participated in various school organizations including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Guitar Club and has served on the prom committee.
Chamberlain has also participated in the Leadership Conference for High School Women in Raleigh and in the Youth Empowered to Serve (YES) program at Catawba College. She participates in many InTune School of the Arts productions and in the Catawba College Japanese Drumming Ensemble.
Chamberlain serves as a volunteer for Prevent Child Abuse Rowan. She recently designed original “iPromise” bracelets to raise both awareness about child abuse and funds for Prevent Child Abuse Rowan. To date, she has raised nearly $2,000 for the organization and was recently recognized for her volunteer and fundraising efforts with an award at the annual Prevent Child Abuse Rowan brunch.
