SALISBURY — Nashville Nights wants to take the party upstairs and outside.
The new country and bluegrass nightclub in downtown Salisbury is planning to add a rooftop bar. Go Burrito has the only other rooftop bar downtown.
Nashville Nights will request a certificate of appropriateness Thursday from the city’s Historic Preservation Commission, which meets at 5:15 p.m. in City Hall, 217 S. Main St. Earning a nod from the commission would be the first step in the city’s permitting process for the rooftop bar.
The upper-level deck would occupy 700 square feet over the portion nightclub at 125 E. Innes St., co-owner Dick Palmore said. It would hold up to 74 people.
Nashville Nights, which opened in February, wanted to include a rooftop bar originally, but the idea was put on the back burner until now.
Local firm Ramsay Burgin Smith Architects is designing the space.
If the rooftop location proves popular, Nashville Nights would consider expanding the area but would have to add another bathroom, Palmore said. The club already has six restrooms.
Club co-owner Karen Littleton is the applicant for Thursday’s Historic Preservation Commission meeting.
