Youngsters get hands-on experience at North Hills Christian School

No, that rumbling you felt Thursday wasn’t a real volcano erupting in Rowan County. It could have been the excitement generated by the youngsters at Camp Invention.
Hosted by North Hills Christian School this week, Camp Invention gives kids hands-on experience with activities that incorporate science, technology, engineering and math — collectively known as STEM.
Among the educational fun, campers got to disassemble small appliances, build duck launchers and, yes, make their own volcanoes.
