The Mooresville Legends beat Kannapolis 6-3 on Tuesday at Mooresville High.
Austin Hartness, Devon Watts and Anthony Fucci had two doubles each.
Rhett Hellard and Hartness drove in two runs each to back Kane Sutton’s pitching.
Wyatt Taylor homered for Kannapolis, and Austin Mace had two hits.

Rowan County Junior Legion beat Davidson County 6-3 on Tuesday.
Harrison Bell was the winning pitcher. Jeremy Simpson and Joseph Peeler had two hits each.
Rowan plays at South Iredell on Thursday.
• Carson (7-1) won 4-3 against South Iredell in its league opener, as Brandon Sloop had the game-winning hit.
Matt Saul (eight strikeouts) and Brandon Newton pitched well, and Ryan Bearden had two hits.

Asheboro’s John J. Tuttle (A.L. Brown, Catawba) was named co-pitcher of the week in the Coastal Plain League.
Tuttle is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 14 innings.

The Rowan Express Track and Field Club competed in the AAU district qualifier in Cornelius.
In the 8-under division, Brittany Ellis was first in the shot put (14-1/4 inches) and third in the long jump (8 feet, 1 inch).
Bailee Goodlett was second in the long jump (8-3) and eighth in the 100 meters(18.96 seconds).
Bloom Goodlett was fifth in the 100 (18.77) and sixth in the long jump (6-1).
Breasia Ellis, 10, was first in the shot (16-41/2), first in the turbo javelin (42-5) and second in the long jump (7-3).
Braquan Ellis, 11, was first in the turbo javelin (27-4), first in the discus (19-7) and third in the shot put (14-7).
Braniya Goodlett, 12, was first in the shot put (21-101/4) and second in the discus (30-2).
Jared Wallace, 14, was first in the shot (27-2) and third in the discus (72-1).
In the 17-18 division, Darius Wallace was first in the 400 (56.52).
Chris Patterson was first in the long jump (19-11), first in the triple jump (43-0) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.79).

Forty-one GARS members played an ABCD Tournament at Crescent.
Low ‘A’ Flight winner with a net of 69.75 was Tom Talbert. Low ‘B’ Flight winner with a net of 63.82 was David Lee. Low ‘C’ Flight winner with a net of 70.85 was John Cress. Low ‘D’ Flight winner with a net of 70.15 was Gerald Osborne.

Ledford girls basketball coach John Ralls, who led the Panthers to state championships in 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2002 announced a retirement date after 28 seasons and more than 700 coaching victories.
Ralls also coached five state championship golf teams (three boys, two girls) and had three more state titles in the slow-pitch era of girls softball.
Ralls plans to teach one more year, but he’ll only coach golf in the 2013-14 school year.

CCC member Lexington announced Chuck Henderson as its new head football coach.
Henderson has been head coach at Asheboro the past three seasons and was Ledford’s head coach prior to that.
The 1992 UNC graduate got his coaching start as an assistant at North Davidson and High Point Central.

UNC outfielder Chaz Frank (Central Davidson) was a 20th round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The 25th annual Piedmont Pitcher/Catcher Camp will be held at Central Davidson.
The camp is for ages 6-18. Instructors include Duke head coach Chris Pollard.

Salisbury Parks and Rec will hold its baseball and fast-pitch softball camps on June 17-20, from 9 until noon, at Salisbury Community Park.
Justin Morgan will conduct the baseball camp, while Elizabeth Clarke will direct the softball camp.
Cost of the camps is $40.

West Rowan Youth Football Camp will be held June 13-15 at West Rowan High.
Current and former Falcons will provide instruction along with head coach Scott Young and his staff. Brochures can be picked up at the school.

The softball game between the Landis and China Grove fire and police departments was again postponed Monday. It will be rescheduled.

Carson girls basketball camps will be held in July.
A camp for elementary school girls will be held July 8-11 from 4-7.
A camp for middle school girls will be held July 15-18 from 4-7.
The gym will open at 3:30 p.m. for both camps. The cost of either camp is $50. That includes a T-shirt and camp insurance.

Augusta swept Kannapolis 9-3 and 7-1 in a doubleheader on Tuesday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.

Falcon Basketball Camp will be held at West Rowan High on July 15-18 for rising 2nd-8th grade boys.
Camp is from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost is $50 for four days of fun and a chance to improve your game. Campers receive T-shirts.
Coaches are Mike Gurley and West players.
