SALISBURY — Police arrested two Salisbury residents after marijuana and a gun were found in an SUV on Thursday.
Officers arrested Renard Antwan Adams, 23, and Sydney Taylor Brown, 17, during the traffic stop.
Investigators said the two were stopped in an orange Nissan Xterra, which had been flagged by officers earlier in the day as possibly having a driver with no license.
Cpt. Melonie Thompson spotted the vehicle and cited Brown on a driving while license revoked charge. The vehicle was stopped at the corner of Craig and Monroe Streets.
The officer then found 18 grams, or .63 ounces, of marijuana in a black nylon bag in the backseat. Along with the bag, Thompson found a .380 handgun in a bookbag.
Adams was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon. Adams, a convicted felon, was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. He was placed in Rowan County jail under a $5,000 bond.
Brown was also jailed on a $300 bond.
