Lots of road work planned, weather permitting

The N.C. Department of Transportation will begin making repairs next week to the driving surface of the bridge that carries N.C. 152 over U.S. 29 in China Grove.
The repairs will require lane closures on N.C. 152 at U.S. 29 and will take place over three weeks, with crews working on one lane each week. With favorable weather, the work will occur as follows:
• The northbound lane will be closed Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14;
• The middle southbound lane will be closed Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21; and
• The right southbound lane will be closed Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28.
NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, expect delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
Next week, the N.C. Department of Transportation will make repairs to the bridge that carries U.S. 601 over I-40 in Davie County.
Weather permitting, crews will close the left lane of I-40 West at U.S. 601 near Mocksville from 9 a.m. on Monday, June 10, until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13.
In addition, the left lane of southbound U.S. 601 at I-40 will be closed from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday June 13, weather permitting.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will be working with contractor Lane Construction on I-85 near the Rocky River bridge and at the interchange with N.C. 73 (Exit 55) in Concord beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, June 8, weather permitting.
This weekend, crews will be setting bridge girders over Rocky River north of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49), and will continue demolition work at the existing N.C. 73 bridge, requiring intermittent lane and ramp closures to keep motorists and workers safe.
This work is part of the 6.8-mile I-85 widening project, improving I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73.
Crews will close the right lane on I-85 North past Exit 49 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, June 9, to set bridge girders over Rocky River.
Sunday, June 9:
At 9 p.m., Crews will close the left lane on I-85 North at N.C. 73, and the right lane on I-85 South from the north end of the project to the exit ramp to N.C. 73;
At 10 p.m., the exit ramp from I-85 South to N.C. 73 will be closed;
At midnight, traffic will be shifted up and over the exit and entrance ramps on I-85 North at N.C. 73;
All lane and ramp closures will be removed by 6 a.m. Monday, June 10.
Monday, June 10:
At 9 p.m., crews will close the left lane on I-85 North and South at N.C. 73
At midnight, traffic will be shifted up and over the exit and entrance ramps on I-85 North and South at N.C. 73;
