Alumni football postponed

The West Rowan-Davie County Alumni football game that was scheduled to be played at West tonight has been postponed.
All tickets sold will be honored, and the plan now is for the game to be played at a Davie site in late June.
Stay tuned for a further announcement.

Rowan County lost 5-4 at Western Forsyth on Friday.
Michael Caldwell had three hits for Rowan, including two doubles. Brian Bauk had two hits.
Bauk, Ashton Fleming and Harrison Baucom drove in runs, and Rowan got a run on a wild pitch.
Riley Myers took the loss on the mound. He pitched four innings, allowed four runs and fanned five.
Travis Holshouser allowed a solo homer to Zach French but settled in and pitched well. Relievers Brandon White and Clint Veal kept Western Forsyth off the scoreboard late and gave Rowan a chance to rally.
Rowan had the tying run at third base with one out in the ninth, but Fleming popped up and Bauk grounded out.
Rowan plays at home tonight at 7 p.m. against Area IV power Cherryville.

Kernersville defeated Southern Rowan 11-4 Friday.
Southern (5-3) got home runs from Eric Tyler and Parker Hubbard. John Daugherty took the loss on the mound.
Southern hosts Shelby tonight.
Concord overcame a 6-2 deficit and beat Kannapolis 7-6 on Friday.
Josh Chapman had three hits for Concord, which scored four runs in the seventh to tie and got the go-ahead run in the eighth.
Trace Hagler pitched five strong innings for Kannapolis and struck out nine.
Austin Mace, Grayson Miller, Ryan Austin and Justin Dixon had two hits each for Kannapolis. Jesse Klepper had two RBIs.
• Stanly scored three runs in the ninth and beat the Mooresville Legends 7-4.
Clay Fesperman, Cody McKenzie, Zach Almond and Dylan Dowdy had two hits each for Stanly. Matt Huneycutt was the winning pitcher. De Kaiser got the save.
Devon Watts and Jack Carty had two hits each for the Legends. Jack Kolls pitched five strong innings.

West Rowan Junior Legion defeated Davidson County Post 8 on Friday 5-1. Bryan Ketchie pitched complete game while striking out 9. West was led at the plate by Micah Marsh with 2 hits. Marsh, Noah Teeter had doubles and Margarito Romero had a triple. Rowan is now 6-3 overall and 2-0 in division play. West Rowan Junior Legion’s next game is Saturday, June 1 at 7:00 against Rowan at West Rowan High School.
• Kannapolis beat Carson 6-3 on Friday, the first loss for the Cougars.
Nathan Watson pitched seven strong innings for Kannapolis (5-2), and Alex Rodriguez had two hits.
Brandon Sloop homered again for Carson (5-1). Matt Saul and Pearce Wilhelm had two hits.
Carson plays Mooresville at home tonight.
Andy Austin (East Rowan) had two hits and drove in two runs with a double in UNC Wilmington’s 10-7 loss to Elon Friday in the Charlottesville, Va. regional. UNCW will play Army today at 1 p.m. Army’s Jon Crucitti (West Rowan) went 0-for-4 in a 2-1 loss to Virginia.

Salisbury Parks and Rec will hold its baseball and fast-pitch softball camps on June 17-20, from 9 until noon, at Salisbury Community Park.
Justin Morgan will conduct the baseball camp, while Elizabeth Clarke will direct the softball camp.
Cost of the camps is $40.

West Rowan Youth Football Camp will be held June 13-15 at West Rowan High.
