CHINA GROVE — Carson’s softball team beat Weddington 3-0 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs on Friday in China Grove.
Lacee Hunsucker pitched a two-hitter for the Cougars.
The Cougars (16-6) scored all three runs in the first inning. Sidney Grkman, Mariah Morgan and Kayla Sigmon drove in the runs.
Kaycee Kennedy had a triple for Carson, and Morgan and Jana Bradshaw also had base hits.
Weddington fell to 16-7.

Carson will play at SPC champ Robinson in the second round.
