SALISBURY — Rowan County’s unemployment rate fell in February to 9.6 percent, down from 10.3 percent in January.
The February number was one point lower than a year ago, when the unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in February 2012.
Unemployment rates decreased in 99 of North Carolina’s counties in February and increased in one. All 14 of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases.
Graham County had the highest unemployment rate at 20.2 percent, while Orange County had the lowest at 5.9 percent. Among the metro areas, Rocky Mount at 13.2 percent experienced the highest rate and Durham-Chapel Hill at 7.0 percent had the lowest.
Statewide, the rate was 9.5 percent. The rate has not been seasonally adjusted yet.
