Special Needs Mini Conference to be held Saturday

Partners In Leaning Child Development and Family Resource Center invites parents, providers and educators to attend the annual Special Needs Mini Conference this weekend.
“We host this event each year to provide information and support to those in our community who care for and educate children with special needs,” said Executive Director Norma Honeycutt in a press release.
The event will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon at the Catawba College Ketner Building and is free and open to the public. Childcare is provided for free upon request.
Breakout sessions will include a teacher perspective panel, a parent forum and the topics of autism, accessing services, disability simulation, love and logic and two sessions surrounding faith.
Dr. Joseph Stegman, pediatric developmental and behavior specialist, will give the keynote address, “The Sky’s the Limit.”
Stegman began this practice after years of serving as a highly respected General Pediatric Physician at Suburban Pediatric Clinic. Early in his career, Stegman developed a special interest in children with developmental and behavioral problems, especially those with Attention Deficit Disorders. In November of 2002, the American Board of Pediatrics certified Stegman in the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.
Situated on the Catawba College campus, Partners In Learning serves as the Model Inclusive Center providing care to children 6 weeks through 5 years of age in Rowan County. It is the only National Association for the Education of Young Children accredited program in Rowan County.
