As Rowan-Cabarrus Community College celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, it will host its second annual Literary & Fine Arts Festival from April 7-11. The free, family-friendly festival is open to the public.
The event’s two signature events are an evening at the Norvell Theater with two esteemed visiting authors (Cathy Smith Bowers and Robert Morgan), and a concluding celebration featuring music by The Embers at the Kannapolis Village Park.
The festival is a collaboration between the English and fine arts faculty at the college, and includes music and drama this year. There will also be appearances by author Kelly McCullough and artist Peg Gignoux.
The college’s annual Weaver’s Knot Awards, Creative Writing Awards and Literary Awards will be also be announced during the festival.
While the full schedule of events is still in development, the festival will include a variety of programs, presentations, and workshops at the North (Salisbury), North Carolina Research Campus (Kannapolis), and South (Concord) campuses. The tentative schedule is as follows:
