SALISBURY — Authorities say a Forest Winds Drive man tried to run over his girlfriend and two neighbors Monday.
Joshua Lee Meece, 25, Salisbury, was charged with three counts misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, one count injury to real property and one count unauthorized use of motor vehicle. No motive was indicated.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s officials say the incident occurred Sunday at 11:36 p.m. in the 400 block of Forest Winds Drive. Authorities received a phone call from a woman who said Meece tried to run her over in a white Pontiac that belonged to his girlfriend’s mother.
Officers saw the vehicle in the 3400 block of Mocksville Road and found Meece inside with three other people. He was in the passenger’s seat. The mother told law enforcement Meece did not have permission to drive her vehicle. He drove into the neighbor’s yard when he tried to strike them with the car, the report said.
Meece remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond. He has been previously convicted of drug possession and driving while license revoked.
