Thanks for a true act of kindness
Truly there are angels walking among us here on Earth. I found one on Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Rowan Diagnostic Center. This man’s name was Ken Drye. He was standing at the front desk when I was there to pay a bill.
I was explaining to them that I would get the bill paid off in a few months because my husband had passed away, and I wanted to get my oustanding bills caught up.
Mr. Drye didn’t know me from Adam or Eve. Yet he paid on my account.
Truly, you are a child of God with your kindness. I will ask God to bless you tenfold in whatever you do.

Cal was wrong
I have always respected Cal Thomas, but his Feb. 12 article was off base. He criticized Dr. Ben Carson for disagreeing with President Obama’s agenda while speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast. Whether it was appropriate or not, it was the only place that Dr. Carson could make his point where President Obama wouldn’t get up and walk away. Everything he said was true and applauded by the audience.
I really appreciated Rep. Virginia Foxx’s recent commentary, “Protect the 2nd Amendment.” One reader responded with his own letter, “Foxx falls short on gun solutions.”
Another criticized her stance because he felt that modern guns aren’t protected by the Second Amendment, since they weren’t around when the Constitution was written. If that’s the case, we should vote to amend the Constitution, not go around it.
Restricting guns is not the answer. Sadly, many people are killed by guns used by mentally disturbed people, but many more are killed by cars and drunk drivers. Obviously, we can’t get the cars off the road anymore than we can get the guns from the criminals. Criminals will always have guns, no matter what laws we pass. If a gang was trying to break into your home to harm and slaughter your family, you’d be very grateful if your family had guns for protection.
In the State of the Union address, I thought it was the height of arrogance when president Obama stated very bluntly that if Congress doesn’t do what he wants, he’ll do it without them. This sounds more like a dictator than a bipartisan President. It’s time Americans speak out against his wasteful harmful agenda.
