Michael Dean Hughes, Jr. is receiving his Eagle Scout Award today, Feb. 10, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Presenting the award is Scoutmaster Henry Trexler of Troop 443.
Mike joined Cub Scout Pack 443 as a Tiger Cub in 2005, earned his God and Me in 2008, God and Family in 2009, and his Arrow of Light, the highest rank in Cub Scouting, in February of 2010.
Mike joined Boy Scout Troop 443 in March of 2010 and achieved the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class in 2010, and Star and Life Scout in 2011. He received his Eagle Scout rank Nov. 27, 2012.
He currently serves as Chaplain Aid for the Patrol and has also held leadership positions as Patrol Leader and Quartermaster. He earned 26 merit badges.
Special awards include the 50 Miler Award, the Alexandria, Va., Historic Trail Award, Arlington National Cemetery Historic Trail Award, Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Mt. Vernon Historic Trail Award, National Centennial Trail of Freedom Award, National Centennial Washington-Lee Trail Award, the President
