When Ava Holtzman started working to perfect the deployment of a parachute on her plastic drink bottle water pressure rocket, her father, Seth, was right there to help.
Ava, a sixth-grader at Knox Middle School, is taking part in the Science Olympiad with other Knox students. The club will compete with homemade plastic bottle rockets that are propelled by water pressure. After the rocket is assembled, Seth heaves the rocket into the air by hand to see if the parachute comes out just right.
