CHINA GROVE — China Grove Family Medicine expects to see 2,250 patients a year at its new Centerview Street practice, many of whom may be uninsured. The clinic opened in December and will also be a place for people with Medicaid, Medicare and those with insurance to receive care. On Saturday the public is invited to attend a grand opening/open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 308 E. Centerview St., across from Farm Bureau.
The practice is a division of Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers Inc. The clinic is possible because of a grant from the Human Resources and Services Administration, and is a collaboration with the Cabarrus Community Health Centers and Rowan Regional Medical Center. The clinic is a way to reach Rowan County residents who do not have a primary care facility from which they receive on-going medical care. The clinic has established partnerships with Rowan Regional Medical Center and the Rowan County Health Department.
“The China Grove clinic provides another access to care point for our community, particularly those with limited resources. We have worked for three years to bring this resource to our community and are delighted to now have it open,” said Rowan Regional President Dari Caldwell.
The clinic will be able to serve not only Rowan County residents but nearby Concord and Kannapolis residents.
“We expect patients across counties,” said Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers CEO Cappie Stanley.
The practice will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Stanley said those hours and days may change, based on community need.
For the time being, all Medicaid patients will be seen in Concord. There are Spanish speakers on staff at the clinic.
Most recently the China Grove town staff occupied the space, renting it on a month-by-month basis while they were waiting for town hall construction to be complete. The staff have since moved into a new location in the same building that the fire department occupies.
Rowan Regional Medical Center President Dari Caldwell is expected to speak at the open house event along with Robert Freeman, chairman of the Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers.
This is the third location for the Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers Inc. The other two centers are located at McGill Avenue and Lincoln Street in Concord. For more information, contact China Grove Family Medicine at 704-855-5200.
