Rowan Museum names Lawther resource director

The Rowan Museum has appointed Barbara Martin Lawther as resource development director.
Lawther brings years of experience in the areas of fundraising, development and special event planning.
She completed the Duke University Nonprofit Management Program and served for many years on the North Carolina LandTrust Council’s public relations and development committees.
Lawther has been active in the Salisbury community, having served on the city of Salisbury Community Appearance Commission, the city of Salisbury Public Art Committee and the Waterworks Visual Arts Center Board of Directors.
Museum Board President Margaret Basinger says that “the museum is thrilled to have Barbara Lawther on our staff. We know that her expertise will help us promote the programs and services of the Rowan Museum, considered one of the finest history museums of our size in the area.
“She and our executive director, Kaye Brown Hirst, will make an excellent team, and we certainly look forward to Barbara’s leadership as we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2013. She is already planning a marvelous 60th Gala Celebration for us.”
