Santa drops in
It’s difficult to keep adults and children of all ages entertained and excited, but Thad Howell and the staff at Rowan County Airport did it Saturday.
The day began with Santa parachuting onto the field before meeting with the children to discuss their Christmas wishes. Add to that the collection of food for Rowan Helping Ministries, and the day was off to a great start!
This was followed by the departure from the airport of the World War II-vintage bomber “Memphis Belle” in the afternoon. Due to the efforts of the airport staff, both events were fun, safe and hassle-free. If you missed it this year, I recommend you keep your eyes open for events at the airport. They know how to do it right.

Solving our problems
I am here to say that nothing will ever just solve itself, that all we are doing is looking for temporary fixes. The only way to improve this country is to put God back in the schools and in the workplace, both private and public, industry and government. When we allowed God to be taken out of our lives, we actually turned our backs on our Founding Fathers’ philosophy, from the “Pledge of Allegiance” where it begins with “I pledge” and ends “for all.”
I am a novice where the Bible is concerned, but when I think of the Americans killed in Libya, I can only think of what the Great Teacher whowalked this Earth thousands of years before said: “I tell you the truth…before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.”
Wake up, people, and watch!
