Eureka Lodge celebrates

On Dec. 20, Eureka Lodge #45 and Rose of Sharon OES #1 held their annual Christmas program at the J.C. Price Post 107, located on Old Wilkesboro Road. The program began with scriptural reading and singing of Christmas carols, with speaker Rev. Timothy Bates bringing the message. Commader Mae Carroll of Post 107 gave an inspiring speech on the how the Post serves the community. There were more than eighty guests who brought canned goods to be donated to Rowan Helping Ministries. The Worshipful Master of Eureka Lodge is Jeff Roberts and Rose of Sharon OES #1 Worthy Matron is Kaye Woods.

Boyer inducts ancestors
Sandra C. Boyer has added two more ancestors, Josiah Clayton and William O. Newberry, to the First Families of Gilmer County program. Boyer became a member of the program in August, honoring her first ancestor, Jacob Bearden, 1840.
The First Familes program honors the pioneers who settiled in Gilmer County, Ga., by 1840 or before.
