Fleischaker places in pageant pagpageantpageant

Samantha Fleischaker of Salisbury won fourth runner-up in the 2013 Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Charlotte/ Greensboro Pageant held at the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center on Dec. 16.
This statewide competition was one of the four divisions in which young ladies ages 7-19 years old compete. Fleischaker displayed her personality and interviewing skills. As a runner -up she is slated to compete in the national competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla.

At the December meeting of the Salisbury Woman’s Club, Dr. Karl Hales shared Christmas readings. He included humorous, serious, and inspirational stories about some aspect of Christmas. Betty Mohs read the Christmas devotional written by Ann Bingham.
Members brought gifts for Family Crisis Council and food items for Rowan Helping Ministries as the Christmas project.
Festive foods were prepared by the Club members for the luncheon, and hostesses were Angelia Bates, Barbara Lloyd and Carolyn Myers. Special guests were Debbie Leslie and Judy Sides.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, members of the Iota Psi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi were treated to their chapter’s annual Christmas party at the home of member Vicki Lippard who was assisted by fellow member Marlene Turner. They served a meal catered by Salisbury’s Chef Santos.
President Gail Young read the Christmas story from the Bible, and Marlene Turner’s December birthday was acknowledged.
The city council of Beta Sigma Phi will meet in January to plan the February event honoring all of the Salisbury chapters’ Valentine Queens. Iota Psi continues to collect items for Rowan Helping Ministries, Faithful Friends no-kill animal shelter and cards for Linda Beck.
The next meeting will be Jan. 8, 2013 at the Rockwell Community Building.
