Hospice House truly a dream come true
The Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House opened its welcoming doors this week after many years of anticipation, and a lengthy planning process.
The Hospice Inpatient facility is named in honor of Dr. Kiser and pays tribute to his benevolent legacy. His contributions have enabled Rowan Regional Medical Center and Rowan Hospice and Palliative C.A.R.E. to greatly expand its health care facilities and services.
Countless people played a major role in the development of the Hospice House and responded generously with their donations of time, talent, and money.
Every single contribution and individual effort is greatly appreciated and will have lasting impact.
The Hospice House enables the staff and volunteers to provide patients, their families and loved ones, comfort, support and quality care in their time of need. Honoring their wishes in a home-like setting, Hospice embraces them with hope, respect and compassion, enhancing every precious moment of life. It is said that “Today is a gift, that is why it’s called a PRESENT.”
It is significant that The Hospice House was completed during the month of November, which is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, and during the season for giving thanks.

Another cold case
I was very glad to see that Rowan County is finally looking into these unsolved murder cases, although I hope one dear to my heart doesn’t go unseen. My father was shot and killed March 2,1988. This case was in the least very unusual — swept under the rug, I feel. His name is Steven Wayne Sides. Many people know the case. I only wanted it to be remembered and given a good second look. Thanks, from a daughter’s heart.
