Gene McIntyre, Republican candidate for N.C. Senate District 25, was released Friday from the hospital after a one-car accident, his campaign said in a press release.
“Under the suggestion of his doctors, he is going to take a few days off before returning to the campaign trail,” the campaign said. “Both he and Sue would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. Gene is ready to spend the next 11 days continuing to spread his message for the need of a conservative, effective senator for the people of District 25.”
On Wednesday, McIntyre was traveling from a campaign event in Stanly County to door knock in Rowan County when he was involved in a one-car accident. He was taken to Stanly Regional Medical Center and then taken for further evaluation to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, which released him Friday.
His Democratic opponent, Gene McLaurin, has said he is asking for prayers for McIntyre.gggIn a statewide “robo-call” Tuesday, Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory said he wants Dan Forest as his second in command.
McCrory’s recorded voice urged his supporters to “please give me the lieutenant governor I need to get the job done” and asked them to vote for Forest, a fellow Republican.
The call was issued by the N.C. Republican Party and delivered to several hundred thousand households statewide.
Forest also recently announced endorsements by a small business association called the National Federation of Independent Business, as well as the Shelter Providers Political Action Committee Enterprise made up of Realtors, homebuilders, commercial and multifamily developers and commercial real estate brokers.
He faces Democratic candidate Linda Coleman in the general election. McCrory’s opponent this November is Democrat Walter Dalton, the current lieutenant governor.gggU.S. Rep. Larry Kissell joined local Habitat for Humanity volunteers and officials for the 2012 Annual Breakfast Program at Cabarrus County’s Habitat for Humanity headquarters on Tuesday.
Habitat for Humanity was founded on the principle that everyone should have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live. Those in need help to build their own homes with other volunteers on a national and international level.
“It was amazing to hear the accomplishments that Habitat has made in the last year in Cabarrus,” said Kissell in a Thursday press release. “They not only worked within their budget, but made strides to get the biggest bang for their buck with great success. Everyone deserves a roof over their head, and I was proud to gather with these folks who help make that happen.”
Resource Development Director Martha Seger highlighted the event and thanked Kissell for his support.
“All of our improvements were made possible by the generous support of the cities of Concord and Kannapolis and individuals in the community,” said Seger in the press release. “It was great to see Congressman Kissell there as well. He has always been supportive of us in other events and we’re appreciative of his support.”gggThis week, U.S. Rep. The International Association of Firefighters has praised Kissell for fighting to preserve the FIRE and SAFER grant programs that firefighters rely on for equipment and training to help them better protect residents throughout the district.gggRichard Hudson, candidate for Congress in North Carolina’s 8th District, also announced another endorsement this week.
RPAC, the political arm of the National Association of Realtors, endorsed Hudson following a strong recommendation from the North Carolina Association of Realtors Political Action Committee.
In a statement, North Carolina Association of Realtors President Lou Baldwin cited Hudson’s knowledge of the 8th District, his tireless work on behalf of district residents and his strong grasp of issues affecting the real estate industry as primary reasons for their support.
