MOUNT ULLA – Patterson Farm will host its first adventure run this weekend with the proceeds benefiting the Rowan County United Way.

The mud trail run is 3.8 miles taking participants through farmland, vineyards, a corn maze and other unique farm obstacles. The event takes place Saturday at the farm, located at 10390 Caldwell Road, Mount Ulla. The race begins at 9 a.m. with an individuals and team race.
“We thought it would be a fun setting, a fun family type of event,” said Michelle Patterson, co-owner of Patterson Farm Inc.
Someone suggested the farm host an adventure run and Patterson said she heard about other farms hosting similar events.
There will also be a half mile kids “Little Farm Hands” race for children five years old to 12 years old.
The entry fees are $30 for individuals paid before Tuesday and $35 after Tuesday. The cost for a four-person team before Tuesday is $120 and $140 after Tuesday. The cost for a two-person team is $60 before Tuesday and $70 after Tuesday.
The cost for the children’s fun run is $10 before and after Tuesday’s deadline.
Interested participants can register online at www.sportoften.com. A printable race brochure is available at www.salisburyrowanrunngers.org. Those interested may also register from 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. for individuals and 7 a.m.-9:30 a.m. for teams.
The individual’s race begins at 9 a.m., the team race begins at 10 a.m., the children’s fun run begins at 11 a.m. and awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top male and female in each age group and the top overall four-person and two-person teams for both male and female and co-ed.
There will be a key valet available for race participants.
All pre-registered participants will receive a dri-fit commemorative T-shirt and race day participants will receive a T-shirt on a first come, first served basis.
After the race there will be a host of activities including the Patterson Farm Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, which are free to all race participants. There will also be hayrides and playtime at Pappaw Carl’s Playground.
