Charlotte to host Republican National Committee

CHARLOTTE (AP) — Charlotte hosted the Democratic National Convention earlier this year.
Next year, Charlotte will host the Republican National Committee.
The party’s winter meeting in January won’t bring nearly as many people to Charlotte as the Democrat’s once-every-four-years meeting did in September. But the committee’s 168 members are to meet in Charlotte January 23-26.
North Carolina had voted for President Obama in 2008, but Republican Mitt Romney carried the state earlier this month.
A party spokesman would not talk about whether the Republican National Committee visit could lead to the Republican National Convention in Charlotte in 2016.
The committee is expected to discuss what it needs to do to recapture the White House.
