SALISBURY – The Salisbury Police Department is accepting applications to be one of 118 who will get bicycles from this year’s annual Christmas giveaway.
The program, created through a partnership with Gerry Wood Auto Group, gives out bikes several days before Christmas to underprivileged children in the area.
The bike giveaway began 10 years ago and serves as a way for officers to interact with children “in a positive and uplifting manner,” a press release said.
Children too young for a bike can receive a teddy bear.
Applications for the program are due by Dec. 3 and must be completed by a parent or guardian.
Bikes and helmets are provided as part of the program and the toys will be delivered on Dec. 22.
