Rowan Blues and Jazz Festival set for Oct. 20

SALISBURY – The 14th Annual Rowan Blues & Jazz Festival will be held Oct. 20 at West Fisher and South Church streets.
The gate opens for the all-day festival at 1 p.m. at 200 W. Fisher St.
The family-friendly festival offers featured performers from 2-11 p.m., international food and arts and crafts vendors.
In addition, the Jackie Torrence Storytellers Festival will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. outside Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Fisher St. The story-telling festival is free.
Blues and Jazz Festival-goers are being encouraged to bring their chairs, blankets and jackets, but leave their coolers and pets at home.
Advance tickets are available at www.rowanbluesandjazz.org. Parking is free on the streets and parking lots around the festival site.
Here’s a rundown of the performers and times:
• 2 p.m. – Overton Elementary School’s Mini Funk Factory.
• 2:30 p.m. – Salisbury High Jazz Band.
• 3 p.m. – Fruteland Jackson.
• 4:30 p.m. – To be announced.
• 5:30 p.m. – Joe Robinson Jazz Band.
• 7 p.m. – Harper and Midwest Kind.
• 8:30 p.m. – Mac Arnold & Plate Full of Blues.
• 10:30 p.m. – Finale Jam.
The Rowan Blues & Jazz Society is presenting the festival.
