West Rowan High School
The hallways of West Rowan High are again filled with students and already, there’s a lot going on. When you first pull in to the crowded parking lot, you will see the 400 building.
As soon as you enter you might find yourself looking at Ms. Martenelli’s freshmen Health and PE class’s “Choices Make You” bulletin board. It promotes wise decisions for teens.
You may also hear the first period band playing some cool literature, or, later in the day, percussion ensemble using the computer application ‘ GarageBand ‘ to write their own piece. Like what you hear? They will be having a concert Nov. 1, if you’re interested.
Down in the main building Mrs. White and Ms. Funderburke are teaching students how to survive in the business world. This semester they are using an online financial program called Everfi. Everfi will teach students how to make good financial decisions, manage money, and make their money work for them. After completing this course, students will receive Everfi certification on their transcripts, which can follow them into the workplace.
Speaking of a work place, Mrs. Steele’s Apparel class is sewing up some fun. They will be taking their annual field trip to WalMart soon, so be prepared.
If you happen to see some Puritan hats while at West Rowan, don’t worry, it’s just Mrs. Fontenot’s English III class. They have been reading and acting out ‘The Crucible,” a play about the Salem Witch trials.
These are just a few of the many activities going on at West recently.
McNeely is a student in Kenny Perkins’ marketing class. Students from the class will be sending in updates about the school throughout the semester to the Post.
