?SALISBURY – An Elizabeth Hanford Dole Elementary School student was suspended Monday morning after deputies said the child kicked the principal, a school nurse and a Rowan County Sheriff’s officer during an altercation at the school.
Deputies said the 9-year-old was acting up at the school Monday about 8 a.m. The principal told officers she was kicked in the legs several times and a school nurse was also assaulted.
The report did not say why the child became upset.
When a Rowan deputy arrived, the child then attempted to kick the officer.
During the struggle, the child grabbed a nearby yard stick and approached two deputies.
He was restrained and the yard stick was taken.
The report said the child’s mother came to the school and picked up the 9-year-old.
The child was suspended for three days, the report said.
