SALISBURY – Local architect Pete Bogle has been named the new Rowan County director of building codes enforcement, the position in charge of building inspections.
Bogle is a licensed architect and has worked for Ramsay, Burgin & Smith Architects in Salisbury for 15 years.
“Having worked in Rowan County, Pete is familiar with the existing ordinances and planning processes for the various municipalities,” Rowan County Manager Gary Page said in a statement. “Also, being a native, he’ll have more ownership in our communities and the decisions that help us grow and enhance economic development.”
The county’s inspections department has been criticized for years as unfriendly and not cooperative with developers.
Bogle replaces Dana Hart, who Page fired in June. Plans reviewer Brian Goins also left the department after Page eliminated his position as part of a reduction in force.
Bogle is a native of Mt. Ulla and attended West Rowan High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
“I look forward to working with Pete,” Page said. “He will be an asset for our citizens and Rowan County government.”
