SALISBURY – As part of OctoberTour, Historic Salisbury Foundation is offering a special “Treasure Hunt” game for teams of students in grades 2 through 8.
The mission of teams will be to track down Thaddeus Compton, a Confederate prison guard wanted for desertion and the theft of a chest of Confederate cash.
The hunt takes teams on foot to six locations, where they will encounter Civil War characters who give them clues to their next destination. At most stops, the teams will have to solve a riddle or puzzle.
The team that successfully overcomes the most challenges in the least amount of time will be declared the winner.
Teams will assemble on the Hall House lawn on South Jackson Street the afternoon of Oct. 13. The entry fee is $10 per person, and teams must have four to six participants, plus a mandatory adult.
To register a team, go to www.octobertour.com and complete an online sign-up sheet that can be emailed to treasurehunt@octobertour.com.
Registration deadline is Friday.
