The men’s group at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will have a daylong “Cruise ‘n Barbecue” Oct. 20 to raise money for Mike and Lisa Earnhardt.
Mike Earnhardt is battling ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. People are encouraged to cruise-in to the day’s events with their classic cars, street rods, motorcycles or even the family cars and minivans.
Here are the schedule of events:
• 8 a.m.-2 p.m. – St. Paul’s Lutheran Women’s Bazaar, including crafts, baked goods, jams and jellies, mountain apples and cabbage and a children’s clothing sale.
• Noon-4:30 p.m. – Port-A-Pit chicken. Dinner includes half a chicken, beans, rolls and dessert. Ice cream and other concessions are available.
• Noon-3 p.m. – Poker Cruise, which includes a scenic cruise of five stops, where participants draw a card to determine their poker hands. The best and worst hands receive prizes. Registration will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 205 St. Paul’s Church Road, and it begins at noon. Stop No. 5, where cards will be turned in, will be open until 3 p.m.
• Noon-4:30 p.m. Cruise-in, music, door prizes, raffles and Port-A-Pit. Enter your ride in the motorcycle/car show, and vote for your favorite. Prizes will be awarded. Door prizes will be given out throughout the afternoon, with numerous raffle items at $1 a ticket.
Details and information on a pre-registration “Super Ticket,” which will save you money, is available at www.facebook.com/stpaulscruisenbarbecue.
A $35 Super Ticket includes the Poker Cruise entry and car show registration for one vehicle, two barbecue tickets and two crowd favorite ballots. The savings is $13, if a registration is received by Oct. 16.
