RALEIGH — The Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina announce that Dewey R. Preslar Jr. will serve as the new grand master of masons of North Carolina.
Preslar is the 160th man to serve in this role since the founding of The Grand Lodge of North Carolina, which encompasses 371 lodges representing more than 44,500 members.
A resident of Salisbury and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Preslar was chosen based on his continued dedication to serve the community. Preslar currently serves on the board of directors for the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford and Whitestone a Masonic and Eastern Star community. He also previously served on the board of the Rowan County Masonic Scholarship Fund, as the director of development for the Orient of North Carolina, and as the deputy grand master for the grand lodge of North Carolina.
“I’m truly honored and humbled by having the opportunity to lead the Masons of North Carolina,” Preslar said. “It is an amazing fraternity that truly believes in supporting activities that will serve the greater good of the community.”
Preslar, who was born in Wadesboro and raised in Albemarle, is married to Terrie Dewey Preslar. They have two children and two grandchildren. Aside from spending time with his family and supporting philanthropic initiatives, Preslar serves as the president of Preslar Risk Services Inc. and the executive director of the North Carolina Self-Insurance Security Association.
Preslar will be installed as grand master of masons of North Carolina at an official ceremony on Dec. 1 in Salisbury.
