Cooperative Extension selling rain barrels

Cooperative Extension is taking orders for 80-gallon rain barrels. Made in North Carolina, the polyethylene rain barrel works under any size gutter downspout and is completely weatherproof. A solid brass faucet drain attaches easily to your garden or soaker hose. The barrel also features a screened entry engineered to allow water flow and block insects and debris. The barrel is outfitted with two overflow valves to direct excess water away from your home. Cost of the 80-gallon barrel is $100; its dimensions are approximately 38 inches high by 28 inches wide.
The deadline to order a rain barrel is Monday, Oct. 22. Contact Cooperative Extension, 704-216-8970 or darrell_blackwelder@ncsu.edu to place an order. Rain barrel pickup is Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Agricultural Center, 2727 Old Concord Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Make checks payable to CES or bring the exact amount in cash.
