Students at Sacred Heart Catholic School wear their school uniforms everyday and their Mass uniforms on Fridays, so monthly dress down days are very popular.
Because the school is very civic and service minded, there is a catch to dress down days. Students pay a minimal cost to dress down. Students give $2 for all the way dress down or they can choose and give $1 for their top or $1 for their bottom.
All money collected goes directly to a charitable organization or fund.
It’s just a simple, affordable way that a small gift is multiplied with other small gifts to equal a nice offering, usually between $400 and $450 per month, to an charitable organization.
This month’s dress down day total is nearly $400. The money will go directly to our Charlotte Diocese’s Priest Retirement Fund. Next month’s totals will go to the United Way of Rowan County’s Campaign and November’s totals will go to the Pregnancy Support Center.
Here’s a list of other charitable organizations he dress down days will benefit:
• December – Christmas Angel Tree
• January – Share the Warmth
• February – American Heart Association
• March – Rowan Helping Ministries
• April – American Diabetes Association
• May – American Cancer Society, Relay for Life
• June – Sacred Heart’s Jamaican Youth Mission Trip
