SALISBURY – Police and Rowan deputies took a Linwood couple into custody Thursday afternoon after authorities said they stole copper wiring from a Jehovah’s Witness assembly hall.
Officers arrested John and Jackie Leazer, of Sowers Road, at a Sheetz service station on Old Concord Road about 4 p.m. Authorities said the duo stole $500 worth of copper from an electrical box on property owned by the Jehovah’s Witness church on Old Concord Road.
A caller told deputies the Leazers were in a Nissan and had out-of-state tags, the report said. Salisbury Police intercepted the vehicle near Sheetz. Rowan detectives found heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, the report said. The vehicle was later towed.
John, 29, and Jackie Leazer, 25, were charged with felony larceny from a construction site and felony possession of heroin.
John remained in jail Friday under a $6,000 bond. Jackie was also in under a $2,500 bond.
